Back-to-school time is a time of increased traffic and activity around schools. Children are more likely to be walking, biking, or riding the bus to school, and they may not be as aware of traffic dangers as adults. Drivers need to be extra cautious during this time and obey all traffic laws, especially in school zones and near bus stops.

Please be sure to slow down and be alert in school zones and near bus stops.  It’s important to obey the speed limit and never pass a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing.  Even if there are no school buses around, always be aware of children who may be crossing the street.

This is the time of year when focus is essential so please do not use your phone while driving and it’s also good practice to be patient and allow extra time for travel.
